Let’s Talk a Little pH!

Let’s Talk a Little pH!

Your intelligent body isn’t going to let a little thing like your negligence keep it from doing what needs to be done. Your body is a survivor. It was designed that way! It wasn’t intended to be healthy or sick; it was designed to keep going as long as possible. For instance, if lost minerals aren’t replaced, other minerals jump in to do the job – survival. However, these “substitute” minerals weren’t just sitting on the bench waiting to be called into the game. They have important full-time jobs, too. So, when they are called on to handle the emergency, they are taken away from their primary jobs. For example, calcium is a “substitute” neutralizing mineral. Where do we keep our most considerable calcium supply? Our bones. Suppose you don’t replace neutralizing minerals in your body by eating alkaline-ash foods (fruits and vegetables). In that case, calcium is taken from your bones, ultimately leading to a bone structure breakdown – osteoporosis.

Your diet can be so top-heavy with acid-ash foods (meats, grains, nuts) that the neutralizing or buffering systems are overwhelmed. There is just too much acid for them to handle. When these acid-laden materials arrive at the kidneys, these organs must act to neutralize the acid quickly. So, your kidneys quickly generate ammonia, which has a pH of about 9.25. This is yet another backup system. Ammonia, produced by the kidneys, mixed with strong acid, raises the pH value.

When your body is too acidic for too long, it plays the game of life with a lineup of backup systems.

These backups are either using substitute minerals or producing ammonia. When the body is too acidic – when the internal pH is too low – the systems and organs of the body work overtime just to stay even. But systems and organs aren’t always designed to function flat-out in red-alert mode! They need rest, just as you do, to heal and rebuild. If the red alert continues for months or years, systems and organs become exhausted. An exhausted body can’t compete with disease. Eventually, disease wins the game. The answer is to build up your alkaline reserve in your body by eating primarily (75%) fruits and vegetables. This allows the body to survive and be healthy vs. surviving as illness progresses.
